Sales Promotion for New Year, 2012

Celebrating both New Year and Lunar New Year is been a tradition in China. However, Lunar New Year, in particular, has often been thought of as the "real" start of a brand new year, although China embraces multiple annual western festivals, such as Christmas Eve, Christmas, and the New Year's Day on Jan.1st.

By ending 2011 with the "real" New Year's Eve, and welcoming Lunar New Year's Day, tatamall.com offers its huge promotions on some products, such as LED light, car models, car decoration stickers, MP4 players, mini speakers, etc. But among most of the products, we highly recommend you ipad2 docking station, this product is a multi-functional charger with speaker, with multiple charging port for iPad, iPad 2, iPhone 3G 4G.

Instead of giving customers different discounts on different items, the store decided to sell the entire top quality collections at a wholesale price. After a successful meeting between the marketing department and the board, the store felt that maximizing wealth may not necessarily be the priority in this special occasion, but satisfying and thanking customers for their loyalty and support with generous rewards may come first.

Red Envelopes in China

If you have been in China before or have a Chinese friend – then you might know something about the custom of red envelopes. Chinese Red Envelopes are also called money envelopes. In China, people put money inside the long, narrow, red envelope and give away to other people.

When Are Red Envelopes Given?
Red Envelopes are generally given on special occasions during the year. Perhaps the busiest time of the year for giving Red Envelopes is Chinese New Year. Other important occasions for giving of Red Envelopes include for weddings, birth of a baby, graduations, birthdays, or simply to share one’s happiness or prosperity. It is also common for employers to give employees Red Envelopes as a yearly bonus
Who Are Red Envelopes Given By and To?
Red envelopes are handed out to younger generations by their parents, grandparents, relatives, and even close neighbors and friends. It is also common for adult children or children earning income to give a Red Envelope to their parents as a show of respect and appreciation This is usually also in response to the sacrifices the parents may have made and the hard work they have put in to ensure their children have a good future or good prospects. The recipient of a red envelope at Chinese New Year or on his or her birthday should not open it in front of the giver.

LED Lights Were Used in Vegetable Laboratory

Reportedly, Netherlands-based PlantLab has taken advantage of red and blue LED lights to produce beans, corn, peppers, zucchini, tomatoes and strawberries in an automated indoor farm, which could lead to more efficient indoor food production, especially in climates with short sunlight hours.

Netherlands-based PlantLab believes their work with LED technology could lead to more efficient indoor food production and allow more growing options for farmers in climates with shorter daylight hours.

Indoor farmers have been using LED lights for years because of their tendency to increase photosynthesis in plants and their ability to remove some bacteria and viruses. They are also a lot more energy efficient than traditionally grow lights. But probably the main reason LEDs are popular with indoor plant growers is that they provide just the right frequency to encourage growth.

According to the project overview, “Plants mainly need blue and red light for photosynthesis and far-red, a color not even visible to the human eye but visible to the plant. The relationships between the light colors determine the form of the plant.”

Asides from minimizing soil erosion, their new system of indoor farming has the added benefits of reducing water waste by 95% and eliminating pesticide use.

Christmas: Less Important Than Chinese New Year, But Still Sometimes Celebrated

Chinese New Year is the foremost winter holiday in Chinese culture. Still, that doesn't mean that Christmas is ignored altogether. Christmas: Less Important Than Chinese New Year, But Still Sometimes Celebrated.

While Christmas Day is not a public holiday, Christmas celebrations are becoming more popular in China itself. Many Chinese people celebrate by decorating their houses with Christmas trees, cooking and eating special foods, and spending time with family and friends. Particularly in urban areas, you'll find Christmas trees, lights, and other decorations on the streets and in department stores. Children hang up muslin stockings in the hope that Dun Che Lao Ren, the Chinese version of Santa Claus, will visit and leave gifts. Attendance at Christmas Eve mass has also become more popular in recent years.
Since the Chinese New Year falls around the end of January and the Chinese celebrate that with a lot of pomp and circumstance, Christmas in China is celebrated almost like a run to the New Year.

Can 3D Glasses Harm Your Eyes?

3D glasses are thought to be a safe way to view 3D entertainment but there are some reports of people experiencing some negative side effects from wearing them.

An interesting question from a staff member today that was asked... "If my child wears 3D glasses all the time, can it harm their eyes?" Answer - No. 3D glasses are made with special lenses (polarized) to design to present different images to the right and left eye. The 'splitting' effect only occurs in the very special environment of a movie theatre. Out in the real world 3D glasses only just act like slightly tinted glasses. Some effect (not 3D but screen blackening) may be seen from polarized lenses if you look at a LCD display.

Some people have reported feeling nauseous while wearing 3D glasses and other people have complained of headaches and general unpleasantness. This could be because of the content of what is being viewed itself rather than the glasses as 3D TV and films tend to be high paced and quite unsettling to watch.

11/30/2011

Do you know the first popular 3D glasses?

Now 3D glasses can be seen everywhere. Although there are many different kinds of 3D glasses, they all work to achieve the same end result. In a nutshell, they are essentially trying to trick your brain into seeing a 2 dimensional image projected by a TV set or cinema screen as a 3 dimensional image.

Most people can remember the first 3D glasses from years ago that were designed to work with anaglyph color filtering. These glasses were usually made out of cardboard with one red lens and one cyan lens; although before 1970 red and green lenses were used.

Anaglyph color filtering was invented in 1853 by Wilhelm Rollmann. The red and cyan anaglyph 3D glasses work by making each eye see a different image. The brain then makes these two images blend together, and the result of this is a 3D image effect.

Theses glasses enjoyed a fair amount of popularity in the past because of the fact that they were the cheapest ones available to view 3D entertainment; however it wasn’t long until people started looking around for new, more effective ways to see in 3D.

Fashion: put your 3D glasses on!

3D glasses, also called anaglyph glasses, are a type of glasses that can be used to give an otherwise two dimensional image, text or film three dimensional depth. 3D glasses are used mainly for entertainment, movies in particular, and to a lesser degree in science. The glasses themselves have two differently colored lenses, one in red and one in blue.

Seems with loads of new 3D movies hitting box offices like “Alice in Wonderland”, “Avatar”, and even a new “Beauty and the Beast” to be released in 2011, people are feeling rather inclined to wear their 3D glasses. 3D inspired fashion is causing quite a stir these days. So next time you go check out a 3D flick and slide on those specs feel confident that you don’t look as silly as you may feel, you’re actually being rather trendy.

With the boom in the 3D market, it’s only natural that the glasses needed to enjoy this technology would begin to emerge as an all-new category of desirable accessories.

LED Safety Lights for Winter Driving

Driving during the winter months can be a dangerous venture, but driving without adequate safety supplies is even worse. Most people will remember chains, a first aid kit, and an extra sweater, but many people forget one of the most crucial elements of surviving a winter weather-related accident: lights. Powerful LED flashlights and lanterns can help avert traffic, alert rescue teams and find your way if you get lost. The personal emergency LED lights you should always have on hand when driving during the winter.
For example, if you find yourself stuck in a snow storm while driving, chances are visibility is going to be very low. That’s the time you will need the powerful LED flashlight. Featuring 1000 lumen output and effective at up to 1,500 feet, theLD40 flashlight is perfect for finding your way or signaling for help.
Today, few Americans could imagine life without flashlights. From changing a flat tire to digging out the camping stove during blackout, you can’t comfortably get along without a trusty flashlight.

See 3D film with 3D glasses

With the onset of 3D TV it is likely that we will all put on a pair of 3D glasses in the near future, but what do they do and why do we have to wear them to watch 3D TV?

There are many different types of 3D glasses. The most common 3D glasses (the ones with red and blue lenses) produce a 3-dimensional effect through a process known as anaglyph color filtering. There are various other types of 3D glasses, but they all work in the same manner; by tricking the brain into seeing a 3-dimensional image from a 2-dimensional source.

The reason you need to wear glasses to watch 3D is that a separate image needs to be sent to each eye, with the brain combining the two images into a single image with 3D characteristics. In other words, the 3D process actually fools your brain into thinking it is seeing a 3D image, so it creates one for you

Foods That Increase Cancer Risk

Cancer is one of the leading causes of death worldwide. While cancer may be caused by a number of factors including heredity, environment, cigarette smoking, sun exposure and a lack of physical activity, research suggests that dietary factors play a significant role in cancer risk. Our diets are made up of hundreds of different types of food, containing thousands of nutrients and chemicals. Some of these protect us against cancer, while others increase risk. To help fight chronic diseases such as cancer, avoid these cancer-causing foods.

1. All charred food, which create heterocyclic aromatic amines, known carcinogens. Even dark toast is suspect.
2. Well-done red meat. Medium or rare is better, little or no red meat is best.
3. Sugar, both white and brown-which is simply white sugar with molasses added.
4. Heavily salted, smoked and pickled foods, which lead to higher rates of stomach cancer.
5. Sodas/soft drinks, which pose health risks, both for what they contain-sugar and various additives-and for what they replace in the diet-beverages and foods that provide vitamins, minerals and other nutrients.
6. French fries, chips and snack foods that contain trans fats.
7. Food and drink additives such as aspartame.
8. Excess alcohol.
9. Baked goods, for the acrylamide.
10. Farmed fish, which contains higher levels of toxins such as PCBs.

Beautiful Baby Accessories

Do you know four beautiful baby accessories around the world? They are China’s long-life-lock, Egypt’s talisman, Greece’s evil eye and Native Americans’ baby papoose.
As a Chinese, I know Long life-lock necklace is a Chinese traditional accessory worn especially by young children in order to secure/wish them a long, healthy life. It was made of silver and hanged around the neck. In the past, it was a custom that when children were one month old, relatives and family members gave a lock to him or her as a gift and the lock wouldn't be taken off until the children got married.

The long life lock is a protective amulet that ensures babies continue with good health, unharmed, free from injuries and live a long life blessed with prosperity. It protects against harm and sickness and the lock secures good health and longevity for the child until a hundred years old. There is the powerful symbol of ultimate blessings "fook" in the center of the lock which translates to good fortune, ultimate happiness, descendants luck, wealth, riches, health and longevity to people owning them. It is also being surrounded by Chinese words "yong bao ping an" and "chang ming bai sui" which means safe life forever and longevity. This is the best gift for children and new borns.

Enjoy the Thanksgiving Day, Enjoy the life!

In recent years western holidays have become more popular in China, such as Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day. Although they are not so important to Chinese people as traditional holidays, they have more peoples attention now. Now it is around the corner, it is an opportunity to express your gratitude and appreciation towards God and your family and friends for all the good they have granted you.

Thanksgiving Day does not belong to the China’s National holidays. Thus it is impossible for most people to spend the holiday with their families. It cannot be better if you can get together with your family on this day. If you cannot, you can also have a good holiday. Because this does not mean that we cannot express our thanks to them. You can just give your parents a call, or sent a message for your beloved spouse. Or you can prepare a special meal for you kid. If you are single, you can also spend this day with your friends. I always believe that what really matters is with whom you are spending the holiday. What matters is that whether you hold a positive attitude to life.

Chinese taboos culture

Like any other race the Chinese has their fair share of taboos, some of them are related to the language and culture.
Red is considered an auspicious color and black is considered the exact opposite in its meaning. If you are invited to a joyous occasion like a wedding dinner or Chinese New Year dinner, as much as possible, try to wear red or colorful clothes. If you are attending a wake, try very hard to avoid red and color clothes, go for dark color clothes.

When a parent or senior member in the family is dying, the children, grand children and other close relatives will surround the death bed and listen to his last words. This is called “songzhong” and giving a clock as gift sounds like “songzhong” in Chinese. This is not so much of superstitious but Chinese just does not like the sound of it.
On the dining table, do not stick the chop stick into the bowl of rice that you are eating. Rest the chop stick on the table or plate. Do not shake your leg when you are eating, actually anywhere, it is unsightly and traditionally believe it will shake the luck away.

The number 4 sounds like “death” in Chinese, as such is considered an auspicious word. Most of the Chinese will avoid using this in mobile phone number, house block number.
Death is a taboo which is not to be discussed in “joyous” occasions such as Chinese New Year, weddings or birthdays.Never buy a green hat for any male married friend, as wearing a green hat has the same meaning that his wife commits adultery. In china, you must avoid these taboos, otherwise people may think you are a impolite person.

11.11China’s Singles Day

11.11 is China’s Singles Day. It got the name Singles Day because the date consists of four "ones". It originated from the early 1990s, when college students in Nanjing, capital of East China's Jiangsu Province, first put forward the idea of choosing the day of November 11 as the festival for single people. Singles Day in China is the celebrationIt's a very popular day among young people.
The main way to celebrate Singles Day is to have dinner with your single friends, but it's important that each person pay their own way to show their independence. People also hold 'blind date' parties in an attempt to bid goodbye to their single lives.
Some singles also choose to say goodbye to their single lives on this day: many attend 'blind date' parties and many people choose to marry on this day. In addition to meaning 'single,' the four 'ones' of the date can also mean 'only one' as in 'the only one for me.' Some people will use this date and this meaning to tell their special someone that they are the only 'one' in their heart.
Being single doesn't necessarily mean being alone, however. Single's Day encourages people to enjoy their lives, whatever their circumstances - and to always remember the old saying... who knows what the future may bring?

Zhang Xiaohe Strikes Chord with China's White Collar Workers

Zhang Xiaohe is an online cartoon about office workers has become a hit in China. Zhang is characterized by his extra large block head. His name translates to "Zhang Little Box". The spokesman described the character creation as "The office building is like a box. The office is like a box. The apartment is like a box. The car, the subway, the elevator, the file, the desk, the chair and the book are like a box. It seems like everything is a smaller box inside a larger one.” Zhang Xiaohe and his world made of boxes have struck a chord with many young white collar workers. Many of them see the character as a reflection of their own lives at work.

Xiaohe, is a junior clerk. He works unpaid overtime, is awkward around girls and is afraid of his boss. His days are marked with uncomfortable commutes, piling paperwork and abuse by his boss. The creator of Zhang Xiaohe says the cartoon shows a more realistic white collar life that is often mischaracterized in China.
The image of white collar workers has been shining with a flavor of petty bourgeois in commercials and numerous art works. They are always presented sipping wine or engaged in something fascinating. But no one has tried to express the real bitterness and pain in their lives.

For many of China's young white collar workers, Xiaohe's boxed-in life is an entertaining version of theirs. Zhang Xiaohe represents the stories taking place around me every day, down to every detail. He has his own merchandize and a fan page where Chinese white collar workers share about their own struggles at the office.

Will The World End In 2012 ?

People keep saying that the world will end soon in 2012. We don’t know! Maybe, Maybe not! No one knows. Everyone who predicted so far was proved wrong.

But whether the world end depends on what you mean by "end". One day billions of years in the future, our sun will become a red giant and our current orbit will actually place the earth inside the sun. Will that be the end? It is possible that still further billions of years in the future our solar system will end up crushed into nothingness in the black hole at the centre of our galaxy. Is that the end you are thinking of? Or do you mean the next natural disaster, like an asteroid or comet hitting the earth, causing a global extinction event, like the one that put an end to the dinosaurs? Is that the sort of end you mean? Or, will man's stupidity cause an environmental disaster thus putting an end to all human life on the planet? How about that for an end? Lots of possible ends and much cleverer people than me cannot answer your question. All we need to do is living a good life before the world end, right?

The Homeland of Tea---China

Few days ago, I heard of one friend of mine who now studying abroad brought a lot of tea with him when he came back to his school last time. We ask him why take so much tea, he said Chinese tea are famous overseas and not easy to buy, lots of his friends like to drink Chinese tea, so he take some to his friends as a gift.

Indeed, most of Chinese drinking tea as a major part of daily life. China is the homeland of tea. Chinese tea consists of not only the material aspect but also the spiritual and cultural aspect. Of the three major beverages of the world-- tea, coffee and cocoa-- tea is consumed by the largest number of people in the world. Drinking tea has been popular since the ancient time. Tea from China, along with her silk and porcelain, began to be known the world over more than a thousand years ago and has since always been an important Chinese export.

At present more than forty countries in the world grow tea with Asian countries producing 90% of the world's total output. All tea trees in other countries have their origin directly or indirectly in China. The word for tea as a drink in many countries is derivatives from the Chinese character "cha." The Russians call it "cha'i", which sounds like "chaye" (tea leaves) as it is pronounced in northern China. The Japanese character for tea is written exactly the same as it is in Chinese, though pronounced with a slight difference. The habit of tea drinking spread to Japan in the 6th century, but it was not introduced to Europe and America till the 17th and 18th centuries. Now the number of tea drinkers in the world is legion and is still on the increase.

Will You Eat Apples On Christmas Eve?

Christmas is a western festivallike Spring Festival in China. But now, Christmas also become more and more popular in China.

I heard of eating an apple in Christmas Eve is an interesting idea. It means something special to you but could also have a special meaning to a Christian community. There is a Christmas Carol called "Jesus Christ The Apple Tree". The meaning is from the idea that man became sinful when Adam and Eve ate from the apple tree but Jesus Christ came to earth to release us from that sin and open heaven's door.

Here in China, we Chinese people eat apples on Christmas Eve, because Christmas Eve means "ping an ye", and apple means "ping guo" in Chinese. Most people think eating an apple can make you live a peaceful life in the future

In recent years, Chinese children also show their fondness for Santa Claus, they also wish for red stockings that contain presents on the Christmas Eve. It seems that eat an apple in Christmas Eve more popular. In Chinese, apples stand for safeness, so this in a way reflects our expectations for peace. I suppose this is a Chinese way to pray for another year’s happiness and smooth sailing.

The story of ancient people measure time

Nowadays, your alarm clock is telling you that it's time to get out of bed and go to work or go to school. Sometimes we hate the clock because we want to get more sleep and wish that clock would just disappear!

But have you ever wondered how you would keep track of time if all the clocks in the world really did disappear? We can use the clock to track of time, but long ago our ancient ancestors were faced with just such a problem. Clocks, as we know them today, hadn't been invented yet.
How did ancient people first learn to measure time? The difference between the dark nights and the daylight was probably the first division of time recognized by early peoples. They would also have noticed that the sun came up over the eastern horizon and went down again below the western horizon bringing darkness to their world.

During the day they saw that the shadow cast by a tree, a rock, or even their own body was long early in the morning and grew shorter and shorter until it disappeared when the sun was overhead in the middle of the day. They also would have noticed that the shadow grew longer again, on the other side of the tree, as night came. After awhile they were able to tell how much of the day was over by looking at the shadows. They put a stick in the ground and made marks in the dirt to show where the stick's shadow was every hour.
Today we can catch the time easier with the clock! How convenient the clocks bring to us!
